Moonstone & Melted Molded Silver Earrings
Moonstone & Melted Molded Silver Earrings
Handmade by my mother, Wendy, a very creative Californian artist. She made these by molding and sculpting pure melted silver around polished sparking moonstones. The end product is a truly unique piece of jewelry and one of our best sellers in the shop.
When I see moonstones I think of Sri Lanka because there is a deep connection with the moon in this culture.
The semi-circular moonstone, a common architectural feature in many temples in Sri Lanka, is called Sandakada Pahana in Singhala and symbolises Samsara, the endless cycle of birth and the pains associated with it.
Furthermore, Poya is the name given to the Lunar monthly Buddhist holiday of Uposatha in Sri Lanka.
Poya, when the moon is full, is considered a civil and bank holiday.
This is why we have so much love for moonstone and it is represented all over our shop.
These are absolutely one of a kind!
