Vintage Native American Silver And Turquoise Cuff
The prized piece from our Native American collection, this was a difficult one to let go. I love everything about it; the shape, the turquoise colors and the design on the silver, it’s perfect!
I believe this stone to be of Royston turquoise. The Royston mine produces some incredible turquoise ranging in color from a deep sky blue to dark greens. Often the colors run together in the same stone with the golden brown mottled in a webbed matrix. This stone has stunning earthy browns amongst the rich blue color.
This piece was acquired by family in New Mexico from a collection that dates to the 1970s. We believe this is a Navajo piece.
"The Navajo first began designing turquoise bracelets in the late 1890s. Navajo jewelry is an important part of the Navajo people’s cultural heritage. A Navajo necklace, bracelet, or earrings was worn to reflect a person’s cultural identity, status, or wealth. Today, Navajo jewelry is immensely popular among native peoples and non-natives alike, fusing fashion, historical significance, legend, religion, and culture into a beautiful piece of artwork."
This is a piece to be cherished and guaranteed to get compliments.
Cuff can fit to any size.
