Sri Lankan Raw Moonstone Silver Claw Pendant - Kalumali Design
Handmade Pendant made by one of our favorite artisans, Kalumali, who comes from a family making jewelry for generations. He hand picks this stunning, glistening raw moonstone and wire claws the stone in .925 silver. The end product is a special, unique piece of jewelry from Sri Lanka.
When I see moonstones I think of Sri Lanka because there is a deep connection with the moon in this culture.
The circular moonstone, a common architectural feature in many temples in Sri Lanka, is called Sandakada Pahana in Singhala and symbolises Samsara, the endless cycle of birth and the pains associated with it.
Furthermore, Poya is the name given to the Lunar monthly Buddhist holiday of Uposatha in Sri Lanka.
Poya, when the moon is full, is considered a civil and bank holiday.
This is why we have so much love for moonstone and it is represented all over our shop as well as in the country.
This raw moonstone pendant is one of my favorites beaming in the sunlight with hints of blue and purple colors shimmering back at you, just like the moon on poya day!
