Moonstones are very popular here in Sri Lanka and these rings are some of our best sellers. They glisten in the sun, some stones are bluish, some are rainbow, this stone is more clear with an iridescence.
When I see moonstones I think of Sri Lanka because there is a deep connection with the moon in this culture.
The circular or oval moonstone, a common architectural feature in many temples in Sri Lanka, is called Sandakada Pahana in Singhala and symbolises Samsara, the endless cycle of birth and the pains associated with it.
Furthermore, Poya is the name given to the Lunar monthly Buddhist holiday of Uposatha in Sri Lanka.
Poya, when the moon is full, is considered a civil and bank holiday.
This is why we have so much love for moonstone and it is represented all over our shop.
